The 3/50 Project

I'm a supporter...are you? A few days ago, I received an email with a link to the 3/50 Project home page. What a fantastic idea, and so simple to pass on this message. Support your local economy, three stores at a time. The idea is to commit $50 each month to locally owned businesses, total. Maybe that means rethinking where you currently invest your money, opting to pick up that birthday card or pair of jeans in a locally owned business instead of the big box you’ve been going to. Or maybe it means eating out once a month because you realize slamming the breaks on all spending stalls economic recovery. It’s just that simple.

If you would like to learn more, just click on the flyer below to enlarge, and be sure to visit the web site if you would like to help spread the word! Thank you.

A Cottage Garden Sale

The Attic Girls will be hosting a monthly Cottage Garden Sale with our good friend, Shirley Castellanos. We are so thrilled to be a part of it! Our premier event will be held from Thursday April 16th through Sunday April 19th. Shirley's darling cottage garden is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day shopping and making new friends! Shirley's Garden

San Diego - 92116

Directions: From Interstate 8 East , take Texas Street South. Go to top of the hill and Turn Right on Madison. Garden sale is at the corner of Madison and Louisiana Street.

Our Spring Celebration

Sorry it's taken me so long to post on our Spring Celebration! It seems there are never enough hours in the day, so I put the blog on the back burner. I will try to get back into the swing of things!

A vintage porch swing looks so inviting, doesn't it?

Home Is Where Your Story Begins & Bark Cloth Pillows by Pam Small.

Our shopping bags were graced with a paper copy of the invitation.

The hydrangeas were blooming...

...and so were the tulips.

We unveiled our Spring window for all to enjoy. This window might be our all time favorite. We have received more positive comments from customers and passer byers than any other window. I wish it could stay all summer long!

Our first customers of the day!

Sweet Dana of Tutumonkey and her darling daughter Sarah.

Our antique iron crib was loaded with our newest pillows! Our very own Attic Girl Kandi got busy on the sewing machine and whipped up a stack of pillows on the crib from vintage ticking, Battenburg & Bark Cloth.

Pam Small has been the store's pillow maker for years, and she made a pair from a vintage dresser scarf. LOVE the birds and the embroidery. She also embroiders special sentiments on our pillows such as the one pictured on the swing. It says " Home Is Where Your Story Begins" You can meet Pam at the store on Saturday May 2nd, and she will be taking special orders that day!

The man behind the scenes (Jon) made us this potting bench and he recylced an old window. He does our painting and can make just about anything we ask! One of these days, I will have to get his picture for you.

Other new arrivals introduced were these french dancing girls on board.
There are 4 different ones, each priced separately but they look great as a group.

More bamboo mats arrived, just in the nick of time!

Tamerie was kind enough to model some of our vintage hats. She did ask me to add a disclaimer that she was not wearing a smidge of makeup...:)

Sprucing Up The Nest

Spring has always been a good time to spruce up your nest and that seems to be the case here at The Attic in Coronado. We have had to say goodbye to some great furniture pieces this week. A bed, a vanity, two dressers and a bookcase. I will miss this one piece in particular. Probably the most awesome dresser we've had, but it has a new home and I'm sure we will be bringing in another great one!

This is going to be a very busy week here at the store. We will be moving in lots of new furniture items, and starting on our large window display this coming Tuesday. Should be lots of fun! I will have pictures by the end of the week for those of you who don't get to see it in person. We hope to be in tip top shape by Saturday's Spring Celebration!

What's In Store & Another Give Away!

I took a few shots of how it's looking this week at The Attic. We have some new furniture pieces and the spring items are showing up! We are expecting another shipment of items from the gift show any day now, and we can hardly wait to get started on our BIG Spring window display!!! We are in the planning stages now, and should be starting on it next week.

Love this old little table in the original pink paint!

A great old headboard... boy, is this a tall one!

And a pretty white chandelier.

We are having another little give away for customers this month. This seems to be a regular happening around here! Just guess the number of pop top tabs that we placed inside this glass vase. Whomever comes closest to the correct number,

will win one of our pop top bags in the color of your choice!

If you are not a local, no worries... you will get complimentary shipping! I will open up this contest to our blog friends too, so if you want to play along, please post a comment with your pop top guess, and your email or I can contact you through your blog. The winner will also be announced here on March 29th.

Until Then,

A Peek Into Spring

As promised, here are a few pics of our take on Spring.
I wish I could have taken pictures of everything,
but hopefully you'll enjoy what I have shown.
Did I mention this is my favorite season?

(you can click on images to enlarge)

Myra, our green mannequin bust, lost her head years ago. It was replaced with a dried hydrangea bloom and I think she's beautiful.

Attie is loving her vintage daisy dress

I wish we had some real birdies for this old cage.
Wouldn't it would be nice to hear some chirp chirp in the shoppe?

An old cement statue of St. Francis

Very cool old Japanese Garden Lantern

A huge old English watering can

If you can't make it into the store, and see something you like, Just send an email, comment or give us a jingle. (619) 435-5614

Hope you enjoyed this peek into Spring and may everyone enjoy the season!

A Jump Start On Spring

We got a jump start on Spring yesterday after putting in 4 hours on our window display. I forgot my camera...again. I hope to get a picture this week though, so check back or stroll on by if you live in the area. Our main piece is a huge green iron garden cart which we loaded with everything garden. Annie, our store mannequin is wearing a vintage 60's Daisy dress (shown above), and straw hat. We're showing off a few new arrivals, and as people passed by today, I overheard quite a few positive comments! We enjoyed perfect weather today...hope it continues!

Hope to see you soon!

The Latest...

We have a new look in the store! This great old window which separates our jewelry area from the furniture. It has the old white paint on one side, and a cheery yellow on the other.

We will be planning our Spring* window display next. It's probably my favorite time of year..I think everyone is ready for spring by February! Myra, our green mannequin is starting to bloom* She is definitely thinking SPRING.

One of our new arrivals... recycled pop top bags, perfect for use as a cosmetic bag or wallet. In 5 assorted shades...love them all!

We fell hook line and sinker for these little fishy coin purses at the Gift Mart! The pink is my favorite, but we also have red, yellow and purple.

These Serendipity totes made us happy! In 3 bright shades of blue, pink and yellow, each with a different design. Perfect for beach, shopping or market. Lightweight and folds flat for easy packing.

Stay tuned because we are expecting more wonderful things that we ordered from the show in January! If you see anything that tickles your fancy, email us at theatticgirls@gmail.com
