Holiday Heart Wreaths from The Attic

I thought I would show you a few custom order holiday wreaths that we made this week. You can click on the images to enlarge if you like.
These wreaths can take anywhere from 3-4 hours, depending on the size and number of ornaments used. We usually try to work on these before we open or after we close. When you are using a hot glue gun, chances are that someone will suffer a few finger burns. We wouldn't want our customer's to hear something they shouldn't. :) I had a doozey of a burn today but I'll spare you any photos of my injury...ouchie!

Here's the first one that Kandi and I finished on Friday, which was picked up the next day. We were very pleased with this one!

And this is the one I made just today. As you can see, each wreath is unique in color as we use a combination of ornaments from the 1950's through the 90's. We always add a few special ones to. I like using the ornaments with sayings and also the clip on birds. I added the tiniest little vintage bottle brush tree I've ever seen...almost kept it for myself! I gave this little birdie a pink tinsel nest.

We've had quite a few requests for more wreaths, so we have learned our lesson, right girls? Next year we will start making them in September!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

It may be in the 80's, but we can still dream of a white Christmas here in sunny Coronado. We've decorated the shoppe with lots of white, pastels and glitter. Our entry display table is filled with vintage ornaments from the 1940's and 50's. I love to hear customers reminisce when they see these old familiar ornaments.
(You can click on any image to enlarge)

Our smaller display window above, features out mascot mannequin which we have affectionately named, "Addie" The plan was to have her balance a stack of wrapped presents in her hand, but she didn't cooperate, so she holds a list instead. :)

She's modeling her Chic Happens shirt from our sister store Vignettes, a rhinestone embellished stocking hat, rhinestone sunglasses, and the cutest darn pink elf shoes I've ever seen, thanks to Jenna.

Jenna spent over 2 hours on these boots, since she did not have her sewing machine handy. The felt and trimming was all hot glued together. I treated her to a Starbuck's Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, but I think I will be paying for this in other ways! :) Addie holds her list of gift giving ideas in style.

Our main display window features a pretty french gray desk, a beautiful fireplace mantle and our darling little desk with bookcase. White candles on mirrors, glass domed stands covering vintage gold and silver ornaments and lots of crystal.

Our Holiday Open House will be here soon, so mark your calendars for Friday December 5th from 6-9pm. We are open 7 days a week from 10-5:30, so stop by anytime!

The Queen of Chandeliers

As I was leaving the shoppe the other night, I stopped and gazed at my favorite chandelier in the window. The design with the 2 crowns makes this the Queen of Chandleliers! I had to get a shot of it because ya just never know in this business. It can be here today, gone tomorrow, and I want to remember it just like this!

Now at The Attic in Coronado - 1112 Tenth Street.

Stop by and be dazzled!

This photo will be featured in our upcoming ad in the local Coronado paper for The Twelve Days of Christmas.

A Desk Makeover

We paint a lot of the pieces that we find, and I always forget to take a before and after shot. This time was different! I remembered. :)

This darling little desk with built on bookcase was a recent find which was painted to give it a fresh look. We were going to leave it natural, but the wood was stained two different shades and that's all I could see when I looked at it. This would be perfect for a small bedroom or any room where you need a little desk to pay your bills or write a note. It takes up hardly any room at all!
This little cutie has been SOLD!

The Attic , Coronado ~ Halloween 2008

I love Halloween on the island of Coronado. The children begin trick or treating at 3:30 in the afternoon, and since it was still daylight, I got some great shots!
It's a long time tradition to trick or treat on the main avenue with all of the businesses. It's a great opportunity to say hello to the parents and meet people who didn't really know we had just opened the shoppe.
I love to see the families dress up together, and I thought I would share just a few of my favorites with you.
Colonel Sanders and his baby chicken..how cute is that get up?!!!

The Attic Girls all wore matching black tees with a chandelier covered in cobwebs and spiders. More chic than spooky, and such a deal! $5 at Target..and probably $2.50 now! I had to take my own picture since I forgot to take one earlier. :)
