The Attic Girls On Are On The Move..

We will be busy with a floor move this week since we said goodbye to four pieces of furniture over the weekend. It's funny, because even with furniture leaving, the store still looks great! Sometimes Less is More, but the new arrivals keep on a comin', so if you live nearby, stop in weekly to see what's new. Looking forward to decorating the small display window with a bit of black for Halloween, switching out the large window and displays on the floor. We are expecting shipments of NEW merchandise to arrive over the next two weeks, and are excited about our upcoming 1 year party on October 18th. Hope to see you there!

LOVING Our New Look

We changed things up a bit at The Attic recently and we are loving it! We now have a private office, which makes life at the shop much easier.
Here is how it looked before :

We moved this counter forward and turned it sideways. The french doors now stand where the counter once was. Our new office is located behind the doors.

This is the repositioned counter:

Many of our regular customers have been surprised at the new look and love it as much as we do. It would not have been possible without this guy right here...

Thank you Jon.

Where's The Party?

Cliche as it sounds, time flies when you're having fun. I just can't believe we are coming up on our 1st anniversary. Honestly...it feels more like 6 months! We've been making plans for the past few months and we just received the printed invites in the mail this week. We will have a surprise guest of honor from Noon until 2pm that day, as we unveil our exclusive line of kitchen goods & hostess gifts. That's ALL I'm saying about that! You will just have to be here to see for yourself. We are also saving some of our favorite vintage treasures just for this day! Stop by to see the latest designs in jewelry by our favorite artist, Gina of Lizzy B's and Beth Quinn. Indulge in sinful desserts, courtesy of Ms. Jenn and Tartine.

We hope you can join us as we celebrate on Sunday October 18th, from Noon until 6pm. For those of you who cannot make it, I promise to share photos of the days event right here on the blog. :)

The Attic is located just minutes from downtown San Diego near the intersection of Orange Avenue and Tenth Street.

Antique Drafting Table - sorry, I'm sold!

Recently I posted about an unusual arrival to the store and I finally have the photo of it. This is truly an antique, probably 1910-20's. There is a crank on the side that raises it up and down. This would be perfect for a craft table or even dining. The warm old patina is awesome and it's serving us well as a display table.

Eastlake Takes Center Stage

09/25 This Item Is Sold

Simple, affordable and attractive cottage furniture. That is what Englishman
Charles Eastlake had in mind when he created the furniture style known as
Eastlake during the last half of the 19th Century. After researching Mr.Eastlake, I came to discover that he was an architect and arts writer, not a furniture maker. That was something I never knew about Eastlake. He wrote the book, Hints on Household Taste in Furniture, Upholstery, and Other Details. As the book became popular in the United States, furniture manufacturers took ideas and designs from the book and created what is known as Eastlake Style furniture.

This furniture has beautiful carvings!

These pieces were not stained or varnished to disguise inexpensive woods,
but oiled for a natural finish and they are truly beautiful.
Eastlake furnishings are more common in the Midwest and East, but a few do make their way to the West and we are pleased to have this one which just arrived this week. It takes center stage in our window this week, and it has received more second looks than any piece we've ever featured.

The original hardware is pretty amazing.
