Cheers to The New Year!

2013 was a year of change. Our business has grown beyond our wildest dreams, and our hearts are filled with gratitude. One of the biggest changes this year was becoming a Will Leather Goods signature shop at our Orange location. Taking that plunge has been a wonderful learning experience for 3 shop girls who started out with just home goods & fashion accessories, and we could not have done it without our guy, Paul Puccio, representing Will Goods. We have been blessed with two of the BEST shop girls anyone could ask for in Christine and Erin, and we let them know they are loved and truly appreciated. We're excited to see what the New Year will bring, and we're so grateful to everyone who has supported us since Day 1. Thank you for all your kind words and support given over this past year. Cheers to 2014 - may it be a fantastic year for everyone!

Holiday Open House - Friday Dec 6

We hope you can join us on Friday December 6 as we host our annual Will Leather Goods Trunk Show from 2-8pm. We'll be launching a new Will Goods product , and will have a great selection of Will Goods for you and everyone on your holiday gift list. Join us for sips, nibbles and general good cheer!

Holiday Window 2013

Here's a peek into our holiday window at the Orange Avenue shop. Our holiday Open House will be Friday December 6th. We'd love to see you then, but stop in anytime! Our holiday hours will begin after Thanksgiving, so we will be open later on Friday-Saturday and Sundays. We'll be posting new hours soon.

November Gratitude

As we enter November, we'd like to start this month of gratitude by expressing our thanks for the unbelievably gorgeous weather we have had here in San Diego. We are incredibly lucky to live and work in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and are often reminded of that by our visitors from around the globe. We really do take it for granted sometimes, so you have our permission to slap us when we are complaining about any temperatures in the low 60's. :)

Soon we will begin the task of preparing both shops for the holidays.  Our Holiday Open House will be taking place on Friday, December 6th with more details posted soon! It's probably our favorite day of the year. We hope to see you soon!

Will Leather Goods Signature Shop

There's something we've been wanting to share with you, but we decided to wait until our first shipment arrived, and it is here! The Attic is officially a Will Leather Goods Signature Shop. We are honored to become the 1st shop in California to be chosen as a Will Goods signature shop, and we have the widest selection in San Diego, so stop by anytime to see what's new or browse the catalog for a special order. A Coronado Crown Returns

When we discovered the vintage iron crown which is on our store front 3 years ago at a second hand shop in San Diego, we never dreamed that someday...the original owner of this crown would walk into our shop. Well, that's just what happened last Friday. When he walked up to our counter and asked, "Where did you get that crown on the front of our shop?", we knew in an instant it had to be him.
George McGuire, who is now in his 90's,  owned Crown House Florist that was located at 817 Orange Ave during the 1960's. It is now Crown Veterinary Hospital. George now lives in North park, but was visiting Coronado with an old friend (in blue shirt) who actually worked as his delivery person back in the 60's!
We had a nice long chat about life back then, and how he acquired the iron crown. A good friend of his from Los Angeles was an artist in iron design work and he designed and made this as a gift when he opened his business. George tells us that the crown originally held jewels, but they are long gone and he thinks might even be somewhere on the roof of the building! He occasionally returns to Coronado to dine at a few of his favorite spots - Clayton's Diner and Night & Day Cafe, which is where he was headed after he left our shop. He seemed happy to have seen the crown again after all these years and when I asked him if he knew how it ever ended up in a second hand shop, he didn't have an answer. We just love the fact that it's back in Coronado!

We're super excited to have won "Best of Coronado 2013" from Coronado Lifestyles Magazine in the Jewelry category! We've been honored to have been chosen over the last 3 years in three different categories. Thanks to everyone who voted for us and congrats to all of this year's winners. We see many of our favorite places on the list!

Vintage Linen Jackets

 

If you love using vintage linens, you might even love wearing one! Shirleanne Castellanos is the artist behind these one-of-a-kind jackets made from vintage table linens and chenille bedspreads. You can see her collection at our Tenth Street Attic located at 1112 Tenth St in Coronado. Shirleanne is in the shop every Monday and Thursday if you would like to stop by and say HI!

Summer

I've put blogging on the back burner lately, but I update our facebook page at least every other day, so if you are wondering what the Attic Girls are up to, head on over to our facebook shop page! The shop will be keeping us a bit busier over the next 3 months and we love it, right girls? We have lots of NEW product coming in for you. New body care lines, Will Goods Leather and of course, jewelry! Did you know we receive a new shipment of jewelry twice a week?!! It's like Christmas I tell ya!


These pillows have been a real hit. The small ones hang and have a little pocket on the backside for a gift card or special note. :)

Our collection is growing! We are now carrying the Vintage Lock clutch, zippered clutches, belts and an amazing new tote made from found woven silk. These are very limited from the "Found Collection" and we were lucky to get one in this week.

A Girl From Lithuania & A Pink Prom Dress

Isn't she just adorable! One of our recent visitors to The Attic on Tenth St was Inga, all the way from Lithuania! She enjoyed trying on some of our vintage prom dresses and decided on a beautiful long black velvet coat and other goodies. She's an artist and has plans to make some beautiful things with her unique finds.

What A Night!

We had a jam packed house last night! Thanks to everyone who came to our Open House-we appreciate everyone so much. You can see some of our photos taken last night, but honestly..we were so busy that I really didn't get a chance to take many.

Will Goods Leather brought in their entire collection of bags and wallets. If you've never seen these in person, it's hard to appreciate how beautiful they are. We sold so many that I have to reorder on Monday!

Our Holiday Window

Our window at the Orange Ave location was dressed last night!  We're getting ready for Small Business Saturday this coming weekend, and our Open House on Friday December 7th. Hope you can make it!

What's Happening...

The year is winding down and our holiday open house will be here before we know it! We have a something special planned for this date (Friday Dec 7) and the official invites are being printed!  Details coming soon.  We have so many new items in the shop, but I thought I'd just share a few today. You can always stay up to date with us on Facebook if you like. It seems much easier for me to post there, but I do want to get back into the swing of blogging again!

We have a new local jewelry artist at the shop and we just LOVE her! Meet Jackie, who has traveled for the past 13 years combing the beaches of New Zealand and Hawaii for seaglass. She wire wraps the seaglass and offers a variety of sizes and colors of chains. We are also carrying her glass bead earrings..all will make great gifts this holiday season.

Also new this week are these wonderful organic cotton tote bags. We have New York, Tokyo and Portland bags in stock ($28 ea) (Red or White Wine totes $16.95 ea)

We had an amazing summer here at the shop, so I guess that explains my last post being in June!!! I do try to update more often on Facebook, so be sure to "like" us if you would like to read up on what those Attic Girls are up to these days. :)  Summer is always our favorite time of year, but when those Fall scarves, hats, headbands and candles start arriving, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just a tad giddy.  It's still a little warm here in San Diego, but cooler days are coming... I can feel it.

We just received these sweet handmade headbands in beautiful shades for fall and winter. An easy way to spring into the new season that's still a bit warm out. :)
