It Takes A Real Man...

...to wear this apron! lol This was one of those FUN finds from last week. I do have to give credit to my daughter- she found it and I'm surprised she handed it over! My first thought was, Did the Mr. actually wear this? Maybe it just one of those Mr. & Mrs. sets that a 1950's made by a homemaker with a sense of humor. My next thought was what happened to the "Mrs." apron? Maybe it was actually used and was so worn that it was tossed. Would have loved to see both if there really ever was a set.

An Attention-Getter

We said goodbye to some furniture today, and hello to this lovely vanity!


This piece was made by Hecht Co. in Washington, DC. After a little research, I discovered the Hecht Co was founded in 1857. It was a large chain of department stores located in the mid-Atlantic and southern USA. We're estimating this piece to be circa 1935. It's already attracting a lot of attention from passersby!

What A Nice Surprise!

I had a surprise visitor all the way from Oregon this past Friday, and it looks like she brought the rain along with her! THANKS a lot Lisa! Just kidding doll. ;) She stopped in with Mom & Dad who live in Temecula, Ca. Lisa has known me since my eBay days and she blames me for her collection of tole trays...over 50 Lisa? LOL I think that's what she said! She was so darn sweet and we laughed when we realized we were both wearing heather gray ruffled sweaters and jeans. So here's Lisa with Mom & Dad and her little bag of goodies....so nice to finally "meet" Hope we can get together again! Lisa is a dealer at The Farm Chicks Show in Spokane WA. and I've always wanted to make the trip up there. You never know Lisa...I might sneak up and surprise you!

They Made My Rainy Day

Mattie and Mary, friends since the 5th grade and now entering High School, came into the shop the other day to see what we were all about.
What a duo..they spent nearly an hour in the shop while they waited for the rain to stop so they could continue their walk home. They were like kids in a candy store. One of the girls actually announced that being in here was " Like Christmas!"


They both fell in love with our antique typewriter and talked about saving up for it. I saw a little bit of myself in the girls. I was just about their age when my obsession with vintage started.



A vintage prom dress, a new Fedora, a purple scarf and a vintage red umbrella are also on their "want list"


They talked about having a photo shoot with all of these things, and planned on hitting Grandma up for a little loan. ..too cute.

One of them remarked that they just couldn't tell their friends about the shop..it had to be their "little secret" Now girls, we're going to have to talk!

Shadow Shot

I could not pass up the opportunity to take this photo before I walked out the door the other night. It's not often I see a shadow shot at night, and I loved the shadow this crown cast on the chair seat.

Carmen & Julio

One of my FAVORITE customers dropped by yesterday with her sweet little Julio. Carmen has been coming to the shop for years and always has Julio by her side, literally! He is right at home in her tote bag and goes everywhere she goes. I just love to spoil him but he can't wait to jump back in the bag where he feels safe and secure. :) Julio was rescued by Carmen when he was just a few months old. His owners were not very nice and he had a rough beginning, but he has spent his last 11 years being spoiled rotten.:) In the past Carmen has shown me how he runs and leaps in the bag as she holds it about a foot off the ground. It's so darn cute. Julio hasn't been feeling well lately so he didn't perform his little trick yesterday. Hope he feels back to his old self soon. :)


Time to go home Mom..open the bag! And off they went...
