A Time To Look Forward

As 2009 comes to a close, the Attic Girls would like to thank our family, friends and customers for their continued support throughout this past year. We are so excited to ring in the New Year and look forward to what it will bring! Our business has grown and evolved in so many ways this past year, and receiving positive feedback from our regulars and first time visitors has meant the world to us! We are constantly striving to find just the "right mix" to make The Attic experience one you will remember long after you've gone. Wishing everyone all good things for the coming New Year. So many colors and styles to choose from! Priced from $18-23. Just leave a comment if you are interested in purchasing one. We are always happy to ship items from the shop!

As you can see, they are not a full hat, but more like a headband with a button closure. Cute as a button, too!

The store has been filled with shoppers this week, looking for the perfect gift! Shoppers are loving our selection, and many have visited us for the very first time...this is encouraging news!

We will be open on the 23rd from 10-7pm, 1 hour later than normal for your shopping convenience.

Vintage Christmas Ornaments

The sight of vintage ornaments cause many of us to reminisce of Christmas past. Aluminum trees, shiny brites and those heavy LEAD icicles! When people see them at the shop, they often say " I remember those!" and then go on to say " I wonder whatever happened to them?" Tomorrow, for ONE day only..they will be 20% off! They are so pretty tied for a gift bag or box, and beautiful displayed in a glass bowl. We sell them individually and some are packaged 2-4 in a clear cellophane bag. My favorites are the ones with snow scenes and sentiments such as Silent Night and Merry Christmas. We have indents, silver mercury glass balls, beaded stars and even old ornaments in the original box. Click here to see our other sales going on during our 12 days of Christmas Sale.

Santa Is Looking For A New Home

For over 40 years, this old wood Santa has made his home in the front yard of a Coronado home. This year, he's looking for a new home... or store front. I think he would be great in front of a store, greeting customers or holding a SALE sign! With everything made out of plastic these days, wouldn't it be nice to have something like this as a display near your front door?

He's available for pick up at our store, but he's currently hanging out at Nancy's house. Just give us a call if you are interested in seeing him in person!

$125 (Santa)

These little guys are also available as a pair.
Vintage 1950's wood cut out and hand painted.

$100 (set of 2)

The Magic Window

There are some pieces come into the shop, and the minute you see it, you have a gut instinct that it won't be hanging around very long...This was one of those pieces and it lasted just a few days. Isn't she a beauty? Probably the tallest lingerie chest I have ever seen. I felt like a dwarf standing next to it!

This needlepoint chair was gone the day after we put it in the window. We joke about the magic window because everything that goes into it, seems to disappear within a week.

Here's another wonderful old armoire/chest of drawers in the original old creamy yellow. The original sea blue appliques will take your breath away! These are the original shabby chic pieces that are near impossible to find these days, and when you do...very hard to let go of. This one is currently in the shop. I can't believe someone hasn't snatched it up! Maybe it needs to go into the magic window if it's still here next week. :)

Thank You!

Artisans Alley Faire - Kandi & Jane are ready to go!

We would like to thank everyone who came to our Open House and to our booth at Artisans Alley this past weekend. Doing 2 events back to back was more tiring than we anticipated, and made us realize...we are no spring chicks! LOL...

Our best seller that day was our exclusive Hotel Del ornament. Jane came up with the idea and made a variety of these ornaments with printed antique images of the Hotel Del inside a glass ball that was filled with sand, seashells and glitter.

So many people commented that it was even nicer than the Hotel's ornament! We only have a few remaining, so stop in if you still want one of your own.

Our Open House was filled with friends, cheer and home baked cookies, courtesy of Kandi and Jenna.

Jenna made the most adorable little mushroom cookies, but after about 15-20, called it quits. It was very time consuming but they sure turned out cute!

We Hope To See You There!

The holiday season is in full swing here at The Attic! As soon as Thanksgiving was over, we decorated our large window. Customers were stopping by yesterday to tell us how beautiful it is. We are so pleased how it all came together so quickly and what a statement it makes. (I will upload the photos this weekend) We know that some of our blog readers are from out of state, but we do have many who are from Coronado and surrounding parts of southern California, so we hope to see you tomorrow night! We've been saving some of our favorite finds for you, just for this special day. Lots of new gift items and stocking stuffers starting at under $10! You can shop the malls, but it doesn't compare to the indie shop experience. Come and see for yourself. We'll be waiting for you with home baked treats and refreshments...

What's In Store!

(Update : Wreath is Sold)
This might be our only ornament wreath for the store this year..last year we made 3, but we've been a little busy this year. These wreaths are made with vintage ornaments and there are usually between 80-100 of them , so you can imagine the time it takes it putting one together.

A classic old mahogany side chair in green velvet. It sits on it's original little wooden wheels,,very cool! We have a few Ms. Sophie pillows left. It says "The Queen Is Not Granting An Audience Today" She's my little Queenie. :)

Mahogany Game Table - The top flips open which doubles the size.

A rare find, indeed! From the 1950's, a Barbara Bates Beauty set that was never used!
And all encased in a beautiful fabric ribbed box too! This gem has been added to the website.

The Attic is filled with new arrivals, so stop by to see what's new!

The Elves Did Their Magic*

We closed up shop last Tuesday for the the elves to work their magic.
(You may click on the image to enlarge them)

The entry table was transformed into a live forest filled with Gnomes, Elves and Forest Friends. I love the live nobles in pots..so much more than the faux trees. Now we just have to remember to water them!

We have the sweetest vintage cement deer and baby from the 1950's, a vintage hand carved gnome from Germany, lots of 1950's elves and a wonderful selection of new woodland animal ornaments to complete the collection. Owls, deer, squirrels, gnomes and my favorite..these pixies with mushroom hats.

Our sign was made by sweet Rita..we just love it!

When we brought in the fireplace mantle, we really didn't know what we were going to place inside since we didn't have any firewood at hand..but then it hit me! We stacked the burlap and linen pillows inside...love it.

The mantle is sold and will be going to a new home in Arizona!

This little guy is probably my favorite gnome. He is hand carved, German.

Our smaller window features an antique drop front desk with a selection of stocking stuffers inside. An antique typewriter holds a letter to Santa. It reminds him to stop at The Attic for the best selection of stuffers. :)
(The desk has been sold)

At night we bring in our vintage wood trellis and as I placed it over the table, I had to take a picture. It is so much prettier in person, and I wanted to leave those twinkling lights over the forest all night!

We always have vintage Christmas ornaments at The Attic and it continues to be one of our best sellers during the holidays. We collect them year round and if you are a collector yourself, then you know just how difficult it is to find the good ones. We love to hear customers walk by the displays and reminisce about their childhood memories of Christmas.

We filled this huge old clam with vintage pink & aqua ornaments, carefully packaged in pairs or singles. We chose our best ones to package so they are ready to gift for that vintage collector you know.

Stop in to see all of our Holiday displays..Open Daily 10-6pm & Sundays 10-5.

All the way from Arizona...

A very nice gentleman from Arizona stopped by The Attic yesterday, who told us that we happen to be his wife's favorite shop! That made Jane's day and it was the perfect photo op. We hope she likes the goodies he's taking home! :)
