I thought I'd share one our more rare vintage finds of recent. Kandi discovered this unusual painting recently and since we really didn't know much about the artist, we had to do a little research.


His style was similar to Keane in that he painted many "wide eyed" young girls. There is something about this painting that I just love. The back has the original old paper label that has a title of Three Cornered Hat.

Igor Pantuhoff was born in Russia in 1911, he emigrated to the U.S. and studied with the great Hans Hoffman. Hoffman brought modern art theory technique to the United States, and influenced all the abstract expressionists. Pantuhoff lived together with Lee Krasner in New York, before he ran off to the west coast to become a portrait painter to the rich and famous. They shared the apartment with Harold Rosenberg who became a legendary art critic, and promoter of abstract expressionism. Lee Krasner later married Jackson Pollock. She obviously had good taste in painters!

A brief obituary in the September 27, 1972, edition of The New York Times says Igor Pantuhoff died on Sept. 25, 1972. It describes him as a portrait painter “whose subjects had included Princess Grace of Monaco, Mrs. James V. Forrestal, Laurance S. Rockefeller and Anthony Drexel Duke.”

End of the day...

The day was long, but even at the end of a long day, I took a few extra minutes to enjoy our Fall window display before heading home. Seeing the Give Thanks banner reminded me... I have so much to be thankful for.

Meet...Jan!

She braves high winds while traveling on her Vespa over the Coronado Bay Bridge...once was enough, right Jan? Vespa + High winds + Bay Bridge= not such a fun commute! :)



Jan brings us her handmade bracelets and anklets...she has established quite a following here at The Attic. Each piece has her little signature peace charm. Wear 1 or 3..they look great when layered.

We normally carry the Coronado Cafe vintage windows in the shop, but finding the right size windows isn't that easy...so that's when we have to get a little creative by using picture frames. These are available in white or black, with our signature Coronado Cafe or Coronado with crown decal. Lightweight, easy to hang in your kitchen or dining area.

When Friends Visit...

..it's all play and no work for Nancy. :) Hey...It happened to be my day off! The girls were back in town on Saturday.. from left to right: Kay, Rita, Sheila , Shirley, Sandra and Christie. They had fun day shopping and then it was off to lunch at my favorite place in town..Burger Lounge. We ate, gabbed and had too much fun. Then the girls then left Coronado to head on over to Vignettes 15 year Anniversary Event. Oh what fun! Sorry I missed it as Lori's events are always over the top! Can't wait to see you all again.. probably at the next Chateau de Fleurs market place!

A Perfect Match!

When I found this pillowcase recently, my first thought was turning it into the cutest Bohemian flea market bag on the planet. That was until the day Kandi came into the shop with a fuchsia velvet Tam that had seen better days. It was missing the band and we both looked at it with the same thought..there must be something we can do with this! Lightbulb moment!!! The pillowcase I had at home was the PERFECT match! I brought it to Kandi the next day and she took it home to make the pillow. Is this the most adorable little pillow ever?!! I am now on the lookout for more vintage velour hats and pillows....I think I'm in LOVE.

Two Is Better Than One!

When Lisa couldn't decide which handbag to buy, she did what every sensible woman would do faced with that situation. She bought them both. :) I know..we didn't make it easy for you with all the styles we have, and I had to smile when she said she'd be back soon for yet another one. Love the hat on her too. :) Thanks for being my model Lisa!

Vintage Halloween ~ Boo!

Kandi is always bringing in the unusual...so when she showed up with a box of vintage Halloween..well, I was all over it! I decided to display them on the office doors and it's next to the counter so we can enjoy them until someone buys them! I've never been a collector of vintage Halloween, but after seeing this collection , I was tempted!

The skeleton is pretty cool, but my favorite is the Cat in the Moon. We also have a set of paper plates with Casper the Friendly Ghost, a box of Cookie cutters, and 2 more skeletons not pictured. They are not perfect, but they are oldies and were used for many years, I'm sure.

Here's a pic from last year's window. We loved the display but we really didn't have the room this year!

Our Dr. Ivanna Brain and her cabinet of horrors....jars of eyeballs, brains and more. I think we went a little crazy with the spiderwebs..heehee
