If you could have only seen these chairs before, you would NOT believe they are the same chairs. They were brown. They had no seats. They were the chairs nobody wanted.
And now they are back...with a new excitement and a new life! Vintage furniture is all about recycling and these chairs are just that. The seats were constructed by our super hero Jon, Those are individual slats on the seats now. You could place a cushion on top, but I don't think you would want to cover up these beauties. The painting brought out the design in the back of each chair that I never even noticed before..it sure looks like a seashell to me! How perfect is that for your beach cottage? There are 4 total with one of them being a Queen's chair. I prefer calling it that over a Captain's chair. :)
(You can click on the images to enlarge) You can see these chairs and more at our store in Coronado. They are currently in our front window display.

Thought you would like to see our new arrivals this week. I was inspired by so many wonderful new treasures, that I thought they deserved a new display. Also new to The Attic today is a wonderful antique drafting table with crank to adjust the height of the table top. It would be perfect for a crafting table, fabric cutting table or even a dining table! The patina is out of this world and it's being used as our candle display table for the store. I will try to add a photo of it this weekend, or stop by the store to see it in person.
Reproduction French Pails, Pillows, Wall Hooks, Coasters and Tin Crosses. We received this great little cabinet just days before our new shipment.
Sweet wall hat rack - great old patina!
You could paint it white, but why would you want to? :)
We have more new merchandise coming in September, but we will be
saving many things to unveil at our 1 Year Anniversary event on October 18th.

We recently discovered this wonderful antique wicker desk for the store.
I love the small size and the fact that it's till wearing the original paint,
worn and full of charm. What makes this old desk even more special is that it was made right here in San Diego. It has the stamped plate on the underside from the downtown store on 5th Avenue. We estimate it to be from the turn of the century.
The desk is on display now in our smaller window holding an antique typewriter.

Now that I have your attention...check out the nautical that Mom & Auntie Jane lugged in last week.
We didn't go junking with the intention of hauling in a pair of oars, but that's just what we did last week. Actually, we brought in 2 sets.
This older pair are late 1800's with old leather straps.
And also new to the store and perfect for your lil' sailor boy OR girl, is this one of a kind nautical bookcase with a fishing net draped to the side and pair of oars attached to front. It even has a little ships wheel clock attached to the top which can be removed if you like.
Love the old glass canisters loaded with local seashells and even a couple of small fishing reels inside.
Bahama sea fans have been quite popular this month. The Coronado windows are an Attic exclusive and the one shown was just sold. We hope to have a few more over the coming weeks.
Beach cottage pillows made with a french duvet ticking and a turquoise striped linen are both new arrivals.

How cute are these? This is our second order of custom made Coronado charms just for us, by Beth Quinn. We had a vision and Beth delivered. Thank you Beth! Check out her website..she has so much to offer.
Husband and wife team Mark & Stef from Home Studio paid a surprise visit to The Attic recently to hand deliver our order of Scrabble pendant necklaces. What service! They are just the nicest couple and we feel so lucky to have found them! We have carried their line of fun Scrabble pendants since we opened last fall, and they continue to be popular with locals and tourists alike. What I love about them is the variety of designs to choose from and you can mix and match any quantity. The young girls just love these and have a hard time choosing ONE! Be sure to tell them that The Attic girls sent you. :)
Lizzy B's type key necklaces and bracelets have been popular since day one. A classic design that will never go out of style! We usually carry all initials in the necklace, but if we don't have yours, Gina can always take an order.
The Attic also carries pillows by 2 local artists, Pam Small and Tamerie Shriver.
Pam hand stitches a phrase on the pillows and they can range from beach cottage to romantic, with Wake Me With A Kiss, Bella and more. We welcome special orders. Just give us a call or drop us a line. You can see a few of her pillows in a recent post below this one.
Tamerie's pillows have been quite a hit this summer with vintage images of the Hotel Del and Tent City. You can click on the images to enlarge.

Loved this french caned chair..original painted finish. The cane was perfect and the chippy paint was perfection! Didn't last more than a couple of days.
A set of four dining chairs were paired up with our harvest table when we redecorated our front window, but they didn't even last 24 hrs. We are now on the hunt for another foursome but finding some as cute as these might be a difficult task.
Notice the plank bottom? Instead of adding an upholstered seat, we decided to go with a plank style seat and Jon did a fantastic job! Everyone loved the look and we could have sold them 3 times over the next couple of days!
This Empire style high boy is a new arrival to the store this week.
Our new crown style chandelier to replace the one we just sold. I can't
believe we found another one so quickly!
Ooh La La...This gorgeous 1940's Vanity and matching tall chest of drawers.
When I saw this mirror I just about fainted. I have never seen one quite as large or etched as beautiful as this one.
Come on in and see the latest...before it's too late!
